Emma, turning 5

I love the idea of taking pictures to commemorate birthdays. Especially those extra special ones for kids - 1, 5, 10, 13, 15 - you get the idea. My best friend's daughter is turning 5 in a couple of weeks and so I offered to take some photos of her to celebrate The Big 5. Emma is a special little girl. She's got such a carefree way about her. She's super friendly and so much fun to photograph. Her mom and I share the same love of photography so Emma is used to being in front of a camera, and you can totally see it in these pictures. Emma, I know you're not turning 5 until February, but I still wish you a super happy big-girl birthday! xoxo

I'm turning 5!

my funny valentines

I have many loves in my life. People, places, things. But the love I have for the two little girls in my life is beyond words. We took some time out of their playdate this weekend to shoot some Valentine-inspired photos, and BOY did we have fun loading them up with sugar. Stacey provided the adorable and yummy red velvets, and I made good on my word for lollipops. We could've done without the sugar-rush that followed, but it was worth it after seeing some of the pics we got out of them, especially Maiori.

I'm still working on my post-processing, and I'm not loving the outcome so it's definitely something I need to work on. I just can't get the photos to look the way I want.

anyway, I hope you enjoy the photos of these two little cuties!

what I'm loving right now

Part of my new year's resolution is to blog more whether it's once a week or every other week. But the problem is that I'm not much for words, and I was worried about having enough to write about. So, I just figured maybe I could start a weekly or bi-monthly topic and call it "What I'm Loving Right Now". I figure I could write about anything that I'm into at any particular  moment in my life. It could be food, a movie, a tv show, fashion, photos, you know, whatever!

Soooo...my first installment of WILRN...(oh no I DIDn't!!!) is going to be about: shearling boots! I'm totally loving these shoes. Don't get me wrong, they're not the most attractive lookin' shoe, but when Ami got her first pair of Uggs for Christmas, all the hate melted away. Maybe it's because she got such a small version of the "real" thing, I just thought it was the cutest thing ever. And of course, SHE looks good wearing them :) They're so soft, it's like walking on a cloud!

and 'cause everyone knows a-blog-post-ain't-a-blog-post without a photo, here's a snapshot of Ami's cute little shoes.

happy new year

there's nothing like the start of a new year that gets me thinking about the exciting things to come. I want to wish everyone a happy new year and hope you make all your dreams come true in 2011! I know I'm gonna try!

Baby Jeremiah - a.k.a. her monster

This weekend I had the pleasure of shooting photos for an old friend and the newest addition to her family, Jeremiah. It was so nice to meet this little guy! He's got the sweetest baby blues and he was such a good sport through all the outfit changes and taking away of his pacifier! :-) Here are just a few of my favorites from the day. Jennifer, you're so blessed to have a beautiful family. You're so sweet and it was so much fun looking through the photos. I hope to work with you again!
:)

Kind of his attitude throughout the day...lol

what a proud papa!

just look at those blues!

I think this one is my favorite  :)

He's only got eyes for her

the challenge of taking my brother's family xmas pics

I love my brother. SO much. He's one of the few people who could make me pee my pants from laughter. And it's evident he's such a goofball in the following photos. No matter how much we "tried" the man cannot take a serious photo. I guess that's what makes him such a special person to me. He is who he is. And the fact that his beautiful wife wanted just ONE nice photo of her family for their Christmas card STILL didn't deter him from being himself. Below are just some outtakes from their recent shoot. I just couldn't resist showing the world what I had to work with. I'll let Stacey, my brother's lovely wife, debut her "proper" Christmas photos when she's ready...lol

;)

this might have been a nice solo photo

as you can see he brings the goofy out of his little one too..lol

looks like Stacey has just about had it in this one...lol
