Pre-Quince Photo Session: Karina

I am soooo happy that I get to finally post these photos. My model, oh I mean client, Karina wanted to keep her photos a secret from her family and friends until the day of her big event, and of course I couldn't let her down. I can now post photos from our pre-party session a couple of months ago. Photos from her event to come!

Emma + Lily, Old Colma Train Station

I was really looking forward to yesterday's shoot. I was excited to try out a different camera, just to get the feel of it in my hands and I luuuurved it! I'm very grateful to my BFF, Lupe, for being my guinea pig. I had just a few hours to get used to the orientation of the buttons and figure out how to work the  camera before the shoot, and she (and the girls) patiently waited when I had to stop and figure things out.

Before the shoot began,  I got to the location and became a little worried. It's usually foggy in Colma/Daly City, and I was hoping for an overcast day. Hell, I was expecting it given that it had been raining just the day before. But, no such luck. It was super sunny and bright. Not my ideal for taking photos. Not to mention the wind and cold. I wasn't sure how this would go.

Of course, when the girls got there, they were raring to go. They could have cared less if it was cold or windy. They showed up in the most adorable (matching!) dresses, had on their pearls, hair rosettes and even brought along the cutest vintage suitcases for props. Much thanks to their Uncle Cheno for lending them to us ;) Boy did these two BRING IT!

Here are some of my favorites from the day:

cutest little pendant

I came back from spring break this Monday morning to find the cutest little present waiting for me in my mailbox. I found out about these adorable little pendants from jaNicki Photography's blog, and I couldn't wait to order mine!

Frilly Chili has lots of cute pendants in different varieties, all made from Scrabble pieces. I have my eyes set on these next:

just because: Amelie

I'm a little bummed that I waited until the last day of my spring break to take Ami out for some photos, but it has been a great week filled with lots of quality time spent with my mom, so I don't regret not taking her out. However, my timing was a little bad because Ami was in dire need of a nap, and she wasn't really "feelin' it" today. Not even the promise of M&Ms could get her to look at the camera long enough to get a decent shot. But she's still a cutie and I did get some cute photos out of her.

I've been wanting to shoot at this location for some time now, and I was hoping to try it out with someone other than my "usual" subject, but I thought, "eh, what the hell - I can always come back". I'm also excited to be shooting a Quinceañera there next month. But if anyone is interested in scheduling a session at this cute little spot in Colma, you know where to find me!

:)

For this first photo, I used a free texture from Isabelle Lafrance Photography. She's got lots of freebies on her site.

dig the hair clip? Yeah, I made it :)

I think this one (below) is my favorite :)
